Bardon simply states here that the elements previously discussed all proceed from the Akasa. He briefly defines the Akasa as the causal sphere. I'm semi-familiar with this idea from associating with Eastern, Mid-Eastern and Indian philosophies. Bardon describes the Akasa in ways that immediately call to mind various verbal expressions of the divine in its most impersonal, abstract forms.
I spent some time contemplating this particular Element during the last week while working. After the work week was over, I had a good long sleep during which I found myself rising back from a dream. I can't recall much of the dream and don't know if it was even relevant, however, as I was waking I had the very distinct impression of how all the baser Elements of Fire and Water, Air and Earth mingle together to form the context of our world. Then I experienced in some indescribable way, all these myriad physical departures from the four previous Elements waking into self consciousness. At that moment I felt as if I knew unshakably that this was Akasa rising from the other Elements. The mineral rising to the animal, then becoming aware, then selfaware. This brings to mind another question. I have a theoretical sense of Akasa/Causal being the realm from which ideas emerge, then move into manifestation. But does this dream/revelation incline me to believe that the manifested also moves into the causal through the development of conscious awareness. This isn't easy to express, but I sense a reciprocal relationship between the first four Elements and the Akasa, each pre existing and flowing into or becoming the other.
